The Pain of Waiting

Of all the hardships a person had to face, none was more punishing than the simple act of waiting.

— Khaled Hosseini, A Thousand Splendid Suns

Ask anyone who has waited and waited and waited. Irrespective of where they come from or what they have wanted, they will all equate waiting with one thing — pain.

Waiting hurts.

It hurts in places you never even were aware of within you. It hurts every single day. It affects everything and everyone around you. It is just simply too painful.

One doesn’t wish this on even an enemy. But there are times when no matter how much one yearns, one has to go through it.

Sometimes, nothing is the hardest thing to do.

— Tyrion Lannister in Game of Thrones

Who can understand this pain of waiting more than a struggling author?
