Game of Thrones: Shireen Baratheon

Half her face kissed
With a dreaded disease,
Still, she was so beautiful.
Still, she was Shireen of House Baratheon.

Born to parents
Who badly wanted a boy,
Still, she was a princess.
Still, she was Shireen of House Baratheon.

Restrained to a dungeon
To hide the family’s shame,
Still, she was always kind.
Still, she was Shireen of House Baratheon.

Left alone with her books,
With no counsellors around her,
Still, she was wiser beyond her age.
Still, she was Shireen of House Baratheon.

The least important Baratheon
Who was sacrificed for blood magic,
Still, Davos mourned her more than his son.
Still, she was Shireen of House Baratheon.

The first time I saw Shireen on the show, I admit that I flinched seeing the greyscale on her face. But slowly, she grew on me. When she was killed in such a horrific manner, I had tears in my eyes. What I didn’t see coming was my reaction to the character the second time around I watched the show. The moment she appeared on screen, I just started crying out of nowhere. For this time I knew what fate lay before her, in spite of all her goodness. And she is the only character that I responded to this way. Shireen Baratheon was gold! She really, really was!

    1. Oh, that is some high praise!! Thank you so very much for it, dear!

Shireen was an underrated character but one of the very few who were completely gold! 💛

Hey, now I have to know your name, that is if you let me. 😀
