They fell quietly,
Without letting anyone know.
They fell ardently,
Like it was the right thing to do.
Their time was up,
That they knew.
There was no point holding on.
So why leave behind a few?
They carpeted the ground
That they used to stare down at.
Touched it with a light bounce,
The first time they met.
They were no longer
What they had always been.
Still, the leaves fell
In front of many, seen.
