  1. I’m getting some strong feelings here because this reminds me of Frank Stockton’s “The Lady, or the Tiger?” I’m not mad at you. You have a concise little story. I’m mad at ol’ Frank because I still don’t know. Now I get to ponder about this one. Pardon my rambling.
It is a neat story you have here!

    1. This is a small story I came up with last night. I’m not aware of Frank Stockton or his work but I will check it out on the net as soon as I get time. And yes, making the readers ponder about black and white in a world where everything is actually grey is what I wanted. So if you are pondering, my job’s done! ☺
Thank you for your comment, C. D. Anders.

      1. He’s okay. Your’s is shorter and to the point. Your’s also has a more paradoxical leaning to it. If there was an implication there that you copied his idea, I did not mean it like that. I just mean that the question you posed reminded me of it. And yes, I have still been pondering about it on and off 😀

  2. Just what did the angel have to do earn the devil’s trust in the first place?

These job descriptions are getting all jumbled!

Thanks, Mia, for reminding us that ideals work only when we strive for them. And with that, I already exceeded the length of your original story. How’s that for rambling inefficiency? With each new word, I make the situation worse. Do I understand that? Apparently not.

    1. Hmm, what might the angel have done? Actually, you don’t really need to do anything most of the time to make someone fall for you. It happens in the weirdest, most inexplicable ways. 😅 And if it’s true love, your just being yourself is enough. 😄

    2. You are so right! Ideals or the lack thereof… I think that no one can really fit into any one general category. For there are so many sub-categories! More than pure black or white, shades of grey exist.
So who is the angel? Who is the devil? We all fall somewhere in between. 😄

      1. This goes back to your original question. How evil can the devil be to fall for an angel? Far from being anathema, the goodness was, at the very least, something to be tolerated. Maybe even (secretly) an attraction? Don’t tell Lucifer about this, or I’m in big trouble! Believe me, you do not want to be in a performance review with that guy!”

    1. Exactly my thoughts while writing the piece!! 😄 So glad to hear it from someone else too!
I like the part where you say “which one we WANT to be at any given time.” You are right. We hold the power within ourselves to choose that. Others can’t force us beyond a limit to become something. Only we can. So let’s take that responsibility and stop blaming others.

    1. Yes, no one is all black or white. Some people inspire the best in us. Others don’t. At times, it has absolutely nothing to do with anyone else but ourselves. We react differently in different situations.
So glad that you stopped by to comment. 🙂
