Ah yes, Mia, the vital first step. If we hate what we see when we look in the mirror, why on earth would we want to give it to the person who touches our heart? And what would we think of someone who would desire such a monstrosity?
Conversely, when we know we have something to offer, how eager will we be to share it with another? Especially a person whose own sparkle we admire?
Sure, too much self-adulation won’t work, either, as it leaves no room for anyone else. Too little (or none) is equally unworkable, though, as it betrays a closed heart.
