The Sun and the Moon

The Sun was fiery,
Always hot-headed,
Always scary,
Keeping everyone afar.

The Moon was dim,
Full of spots,
Full of faults,
With not even light to boast of.

A trick of the universe or
A trick of fate,
Made the Sun fall
For the Moon.

Ever since, without fail, daily
The Sun decided to go down,
And stand behind the Moon,
So that she may shine.

The day was his,
He made the night hers.
The sweat was his,
He made the dreams hers.

How it really happened,
No can tell.
But come night,
The Sun’s love shines through the Moon.

    1. Thank you so much for the kind words, Keith! ☺
Truth be told, I was quite sceptical all through writing this one. The logical me and the romantic me were completely at war, as I know for a fact that almost everything in the poem defies logic.
But so does love… So there it was.

  1. Oh Mia this is so gorgeous. How creative and lovely is this piece filled with beautiful imagery. I don’t know what made you think of this but I may never look at the sun or moon the same again. Lovers in the sky. Have a blessed day, love 💕 to you and yours. ❤️Joni

As to what made me think of it, well, a single girl can dream, right? 😅

      1. Well it is divine and I think you should send it to a magazine. It is just so creative. A romance between the sun and the moon. You certainly do have a right to dream and in fact someone who is so kind and compassionate I am surprised to hear you are single. Wise to wait for a special man who will cherish you and you him. Stay safe my sweet friend. Love 💕 Joni

Oh wow, Mia, just…exquisite! Such thoughts, and the deep intensity you give them, absolutely sublime. I could go on and on (and Lord knows. I usually find a way to do so), but they only would decoy your wonderful turn of phrase. No, your achievement stands alone, a beacon for dreamers everywhere!

  3. Oh wow. This is soo beautiful. There was a certain rhythm to it which I think was the result of a conscious effort on your part. The rhythm was very much in touch with the feeling of love. Great job!

  4. This is absolutely delightful. I gave a little gasp of delight on the line where the “sun falls for the moon”. Wonderful, childlike story with an adult sensibility and skill. Love it.
