Be my end,
I plead thee,
For I don’t know
How to go on
Without you.
Be the end of me
As I know alone,
Which is so not
What I want to be,
With you.
Be the end
Of everything
As I know it,
For sometimes,
The end is where we begin.
Be the beginning
I have yearned
With all my heart,
Not for days,
But years.
Be the beginning of me
As I know somehow,
I am capable of.
All I need is a push
From you.
Be my beginning,
I propose to thee,
For I do know
Exactly how to go on
With you.
My end,
My beginning…
Be my both.
For that’s exactly what I would do,
If you let me.

Quite thoughtful, Mia, and it identifies the romantic, yet mysterious moment at which “me” becomes “we.” The end of judging events by what what they mean for “me,” but in how they effect “us.”
Ironically, as you identify, at such moments of abnegation, the individual often is exalted. Funny thing, that. Switching your self-identity to that of one half of a couple quite often gives your confidence a boost it needs. A self-assuredness you never would have known on your own. Suddenly, all of life’s challenges aren’t your own anymore, but are shared with someone else.

“Whoa!” That was my expression when I read your first sentence of response! Such an eloquent way to put it! Thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to come across your feedback. I mean it, Keith. 🙂

Wow, this is beautifully moving, Mia! Such a romantic piece. It’s true, love has the power to heal and change. When we find someone who truly loves and respects us, we find a treasure to be held onto.
Thank you for sharing this. ♥️

The pleasure is all mine, Holly! Indeed, thank you so much for your kind words. 🙂
Healing and change are two things that require effort as well as motivation. Thus having someone along always helps.
