Marry for Love

Don’t you want to marry for love?
Not for age,
Not for looks,
Not for money,
But love?

Don’t you want to hold
Someone as your own,
And be held
In return for nothing
But love?

Don’t you want to come back
To a place you may call home,
From the wide world,
To be welcomed with
But love?

Don’t you want to share
Your happiness,
Your sorrow,
To be blanketed with
But love?

Don’t you want to spend
Your time,
Your resources
On someone other than your lone self
But love?

Don’t you want to love someone
Above what they call
The definition of love,
To come up with your own kind
But love?

Don’t you want to marry
Not for your family,
Not for your friends,
Not for your society,
But love?

I know I do.
I know you do too.
So why adjust?
Let us marry for nothing less
But love.

  1. Even if I am not a big fan of “marriage” for sure it can only be for Love and nothing else. Or else would make it weak and some time even resentful. This is not the one we want to feel in this adventure!
    Lovely Poem.

    1. Shermaine, firstly, welcome to my blog and thank you so much for your appreciation! πŸ™‚

I feel humbled that my poem struck a chord with you. And don’t you worry, dear. You loved someone. Even if it is unrequited, you loved. And that’s a big deal. We don’t have the power over anyone else but still we must always be true to ourselves. The universe will be kind to you. You’ll see. β€πŸ€—
