Write Me A Poem

Write me a poem
In your language.
Something from the heart,
Something worth remembering,
Something for just me,
So she said to him.

But I’m not a poet
In any language.
No matter how you see,
No matter how you hear,
No matter how you feel,
So he said to her.

It doesn’t have to be written matter,
If you please.
Sing if you are a singer,
Sing like I’m your song,
Sing like it’s your last song,
So she said to him.

It doesn’t have to rhyme,
If that bothers you.
Dance if you are a dancer,
Dance like your soul’s on fire,
Dance like there’s no tomorrow,
So she said to him.

It doesn’t have to make sense
Necessarily.
Paint if you are a painter,
Paint like you bleed for me,
Paint like your life depends on it,
So she said to him.

But baby, I’m not an artist
In any sense.
Don’t get your hopes up,
Don’t force me to do what I can’t,
Don’t you know it already,
So he said to her.

But this is what I can
And will do for you.
I’ll be with you whenever I can,
I’ll pray for you when I can’t,
I’ll be yours always,
So he said to her.

Write me a poem
In your language,
Was all I asked.
And you wrote me a poem of love
In the lingo of real life everyday,
So she smiled to him.

  1. Those who can’t utter chiseled romantic words, can’t bend on their knees, can’t offer a rose, can’t open their arms, it’s for those common persons to say this innocently and naturally. Poem mentions a poet, a singer, a dancer, a painter and an artist in it, but it is a complete “play” of the lovable person next door.
    Terrific! Thanks. M…
