What is Love?

What is love?
In just one word,
I asked myself.

After a long silence,
My heart responded,
“Love is happiness.”

Just enough to make me cry,
Just enough to make me smile,
Just enough to make me do both together.

So what is love?
In just one word,
I ask you.

  1. Good one ☝🏻

Love comes in many uncountable versions and variations. Love for a partner or love for a child, a mother, a brother, a spiritual guide, a friend or a colleague, a fellow blogger, etc, etc.

They all feel different. And have different intensities. You can love music and arts, dogs and cats, the rain or pain, peace or a warm jumper, made from fleece…

For me it’s the ability to experience a warm happy feeling for someone or something and the awareness of it in a, preferably, unconditional way.

    and now for some fun:

    1. Well, I love this response! Because it’s so true! 🧑 And so wide in its horizon.
As for the “unconditional” part, isn’t that the dream! And when we stumble upon it, we must all do to keep it that way forever. 🌸

Thank you so much, Jerry for the appreciation & heartfelt reply, as well as the fun part. πŸ€—

  2. Well it might be new back in the day love me love and hate me hate and they were confused but anymore with the new generation it’s weird it’s like people push Love Away because they only get hurt and they draw hate near because they feel Powerful and it’s backwards and I know I understand it. I like the old day love, anyways I’m usually confused period and it isn’t unsolved mystery for me anyways period thank you for sharing what is love of because I think it’s beautiful and I think it’s kind and and I think it’s Fearless even when you’re afraid and I think you can walk through things together make you know what three things along and I think it’s long suffering and the spontaneous and I think love is to be embraced and shared and cared and nurtured and how long to. I don’t like to think about hate you much it’s in the way of love there are few things I made you hate them like I hate the snow it’s called I don’t like it it’s wet it requires work and get stuck and can you and my driveway I get hungry in people can’t deliver and I can’t go to my job sometimes or get the things that are truly truly essential to life but outside of that I’m not particularly fond of my body because it’s devastated with pain right now. I already know I like you you because I like you come or question thanks Mia pressuring with me me and everyone else inspiration figure out what love is let me know ok or if I’m anywhere near it let me know that too please period

I really like your definition of love, particularly the part where you called it beautiful, kind & fearless even when you are afraid. 🌸

    1. Thanks a lot for stopping by to respond & appreciate, Cindy! πŸ™‚
I hadn’t really thought of love in that light but your definition is definitely food for thought. “Compassion and dignity,” that too for ALL facets of both personalities — wow! Thank you! πŸ’•

  4. β€œBaby don’t hurt me… no more” 🀣🀣 include a link to this song right? No but seriously very sweet and anecdotal question each of us have to answer for ourselves/self in our incarnation… and it will flux and flow and be different from time to time… in a few months it could be growth… in a year it could answer back with change…. Then you’ll find yourself with knowing it’s all things 🀌🏾

    1. Hahaha, the song… 🌸 Also, well, you have shown me yet another way to look at love, which is absolutely true – changing. Although the core of the emotion remains the same but yes, so much about it, say even 95% could change depending on our surroundings and how we are dealing with them. ❀

  5. Love is a great feeling, where you are able to give everything you can for their happiness, be there when they need you, love is where your presence is enough to make them smile, and it’s more than that, there is just those things that are unexplainable, but it’s beautiful.

  6. Lovely piece😍. I’ve been in a headspace of dissecting love these days. Whether it’s to properly express it in my books or because in Sunday school we’ve been talking of it frequently. Today, we’ve seen that love is giving, enduring, and eternalπŸ’™

    1. Lucia, thank you so much for your appreciation! 😊
I couldn’t agree more with your definition of love, especially when you seem to have got God as a starting point for your thought. (From one Sunday School teacher to another πŸ™‚) ❀

    1. Thank you so much for the high praise! 😊😊
I would love to know what love means to you. However you put it doesn’t matter much, as it’s the emotion that counts. ❀
Also, I checked out your blog but couldn’t find your name, so if you could let me know, it would be nice. πŸ™‚

      1. You’re most welcome! πŸ™‚
Honestly, its a most difficult question, but to put it in one word I would say love is trust, for me. I couldn’t love anyone without trust and honesty.
And I am Akanksha, you might have known me as Bulbul. I completely changed my blog very recently, earlier it was called Bulbul’s Bubble.
I have enjoyed your writing for quite some time now. Keep writing. ❀️

      2. “Trust.” Couldn’t go wrong with that! πŸ’•
Yes, Bulbul!!! I remember you! πŸ˜€ Even the “Bubble” in your blog’s title reminded me of your old blog, but then there could be many similar ones, so…
Last but not the least, thank you sooo much for your continous support, dear! ❀❀

      3. Oh! You do! Glad to hear it. I was gone for almost a year so didn’t really expect anyone to remember me. πŸ™‚ And of course, thank you for sharing your beautiful writings with us. They are a delight and if I may be so bold, I feel that they have improved a lot with time (by this I don’t mean to imply that they were not good earlier only that they have gotten even better).xoxo
